Denny's update and Hater Quote of the Day

Denny's received a pile of email about the local anti-trans incident reported by Anja on Tuesday, and leaders of the Anchorage LGBTA community are in contact with the manager/owner. Meanwhile, an anonymous hater left this comment on the Bent post:
you people need to face the facts, by people I mean gays, trans whatevers etc. You are not "normal" and though you are allowed to co-exist in our society it does not mean everyone has to accept your lifestyle. you all need to grow a thicker skin, remember the saying sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never harm me ? get off your politically correct high horse and shut up already
Note to Mayor Sullivan: Do you really think this hater will treat his neighbors, co-workers, clients, employees and renters fairly and equally - without discrimination - when he learns that they are gay or trans? FAIL

I hate to be too rude on your blog, but that hater can kiss this AA heterosexual's AZZ. If he/she would mind his/her own business he/she wouldn't have time to worry about someone's sexual orientation. I'm a child of the American 1950s and know exactly what it is like to be a receipient of someone else's ugliness for no reason than the fact that he/she can get away with it. I'm still experiencing it. I live in GA, but I follow many Alaska blogs, so I'm well aware of your weasel mayor, Dan Sullivan and his opposition to protecting the rights of all Anchorage citizens. The majority of the knuckle draggers down here feel the same way. They have no idea of how their words and actions can affect the quality of someone else's life, and they don't care.

"politically correct" is a term used by a hater to deflect any criticism of his/her prejudice. Most often, rationale discourse, with logical constructs, are sneeringly dismissed as "politically correct". I can just imagine if the term was around in the 1930s, criticism of concentration camps would be dismissed by Josef Geobbels as 'Politically Correct" liberal whining.

I responded to the information sent by BENT with an e-mail to Denney's corporate headquarters expressing my disgust and contempt that this kind of incident would occur. Corporate forwarded the e-mail to the local owner/manager, who, in turn, contacted my by phone personally and explained Denney's point of view. It certainly provided a different point of view, and showed me that Denney's locally, does not in any way endorse this kind of behavior, and has a firm policy of non-discrimination in place in their workplaces. The manager in question is a long-time frequenter of Myrna's here in Anchorage and was reportedly very, very upset at what has transpired. Their version of the story is quite different to what was posted here (not to say theirs is any more "correct" then BENT's posting). There are always two sides to a story. What I want to really say is IF YOU RESPOND TO THESE INCIDENTS, LEAVE A PHONE NUMBER AND OTHER NORMAL IDENTIFIERS (INCLUDING YOUR NAME), AND SIGN YOU STUFF!!!! ITS CHICKEN AND RUDE TO LEAVE ANONYMOUS RANTS AND TYRADES OR ANY COMMUNICATION FOR THAT MATTER. SIGN YOU NAME TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE!

people would sign their names but to do that you have to create a google account or something like that and most do not want to bother

@Brian Thompson: I couldn't agree more fully. It appears as though the security tapes tell quite a different story.

Wow, Anon, you could be a poster child for hate. And no, you don't need an account to leave a comment with your name - you can comment under "Name/URL" as the others did, or simply type your name at the bottom of your comment.

I've been sick and off-line for weeks, but will post a final update on the Denny's incident. Turns out that the security video *does not have sound* so there is no proof of what the waitress did or didn't say. The local owner does not know any more than we do, he was just covering for the waitress. But he knows we are concerned, and will make sure it doesn't happen again, which is the real point of bringing it up. Thank you to everyone who contacted them and made our concerns known.
